A settlement agreement, once signed, will be a legally binding document, and legal action could be taken against you if you do not comply with the terms of the agreement.
You are also giving up potentially valuable employment related claims by signing a settlement agreement.
For these reasons, you must obtain independent advice in relation to the terms and effect of any settlement agreement from an ‘independent adviser’.
